We aim to develop a comprehensive approach that promotes well-being and resilience among community health workers (CHWs) while incorporating training, community cohesion, and support within the health system. To achieve this we are guided by the following key objectives:
- Enhancing well-being: Identify and implement strategies and programs that promote the mental health and overall well-being of CHWs, ensuring they are equitable, sustainable, and culturally acceptable within the given context.
- Innovative interventions: Co-design and test innovative health system interventions that effectively address the diverse personal and job-related stressors — social, material, and human — that CHWs encounter in their daily work.
- Quality and equity of support: Improve the quality and equity of existing support mechanisms by focusing on mental well-being, ensuring that the diverse needs of CHWs are prioritised and addressed.
- Evidence and Advocacy: Generate valuable evidence and insights to inform and advocate for support of CHWs’ mental well-being in future research and program design across various health systems.
